Love Shouldn’t Be Complicated

Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved? This is the daily prompt for #Bloganuary today. There are momentous days in a person’s life where love is in the air like birthdays, graduations, weddings, awards, etc. …But there are a million other moments in my life that are positive examples of where I have felt loved.

Love shouldn’t be complicated. Let me tell you about one of my favorite memories I have from my childhood. Every night, after getting squeaky clean and jammied up, my siblings and I would go to our parents for goodnight kisses. After a long day my dad’s face would be prickly with whiskers – like sandpaper! Sometimes he would peck us lightly and then suddenly give us a giant bear hug, playfully nuzzling our faces until we squirmed free shrieking and giggling in delight. Good times, good times!

Love shouldn’t be a puzzle, right?

Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to experience countless heartwarming moments that have made me feel deeply loved. In the evenings during simple family dinners when we gathered around table, sharing our day and stories I felt love. In the warmth of that familiar setting, the genuine care and affection expressed around the room, created an atmosphere of unconditional love and support.

Furthermore, there are those ordinary yet precious moments, like a heartfelt conversation with a friend or a patient, or a kind gesture from a stranger, that have touched my heart and reaffirmed the presence of love in my daily life. Whether it’s a comforting embrace during a challenging time or a thoughtful act of kindness, or simply listening to another’s story, these everyday gestures serve as beautiful reminders of the love that surrounds us.

If I can manage to stay out of my head and stay present and mindful, I realize that many of the seemingly mundane moments of my day are beautiful, uncomplicated opportunities to feel the warmth of love. These everyday activities become memories we take with us that shape our hearts, serving as powerful reminders of the profound impact of love in our lives. These memories emphasize that love exists not only in grand celebrations but also in the simple, ordinary moments that make life truly extraordinary.

Love is not complicated.
