Up with the Birds

What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

If I do not have to work, I hit the sack between 9 – 11 o’clock at night. On work nights, I have to be on the clock until midnight, so sometimes I may not go to bed until 2 AM (which I hate!).

Without an alarm set, the light coming in my windows, the early birds chirping outside, and my internal clock, work together to wake me up somewhere between 5 – 7 o’clock in the morning. Sometimes it can be later depending on when I went to bed.

I’m an early bird and prefer to rise up with the sunrise and start getting things done! On the other hand, there is something peaceful and satisfying about being out and about in the dark when the world is sleeping.

Regardless of my bedtime, I think it is important to get an adequate amount of sleep and try to aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night. I have found my body functions best when I get a full 8 hours. To help get ready for sleep I have a wind down routine which includes keeping my phone in greyscale from 8:30 – 9 PM – this helps a lot! Sleep helps my body recharge and lets my brain reorganize so I make it a priority.
